I have and continue to learn a variety of skills within the arts and readily take on new challenges.

EXHIBITIONS

Oct 2018-Dec 2018      Maintaining Colour – Kingston School of Art

The aim of this exhibition was to raise awareness of the cultures and experiences of people of colour in my year. I initially thought of this idea as a way of not only bringing people in my university together but also to let the voices of those often considered ‘other’ to be heard inside a predominantly white space. This exhibition not only allowed a sense of freedom but also aided in developing the curriculum to better cater to students.

Nov 2017-Nov 2017      Work Work – Tintype Gallery

I was amongst a small group of students invited to the Tintype Gallery to take part in artist, Harold Offeh’s performance piece ‘Reading the Realness’. In this piece we were asked to read a script from US talk show ‘The Real’. We read the script three times, each time taking on the part of a different character.

WORKSHOPS

Feb 2018-Feb 2018      Don’t we play the same? – Tate Modern

This workshop organised by Bill Leslie, gave me the opportunity to work with a group of young children with learning disabilities to explore learning through play and making inside the Tate Modern. It was about viewing and engaging with the world as material and thus creating art from our surroundings. We were split into groups and tasked with looking around the gallery for specific art works and using what we had, as well as our bodies, to recreate some of these works together.

VOLUNTEERING

June 2018-Sept 2018     Youth Mentor - Peckham Studios

My role here was to assist youth in the production of their music and to help maintain the presentation of the studio i.e. wrapping up cables, turning off equipment etc. and in exchange I’d get free studio time.
